In the seventeenth Baithak on 19 May 2018 in Schöneberg sitarist Imran Khan played a broad and splendid Raag Kaunsi Kanada that mesmerized everyone from the first to the last note. His concluding piece developed a life of its own: what started out as a Rajasthani monsoon song soon merged into a beautiful extensive raagmala concluding as a finely chiseled and ethereally executed Bhairavi. Sanjib Pals tabla accompaniment was perfectly in tune with the mood of the music and beautified the melodic excursions in a dignified and disciplined manner. The evening started with a short Raag Basant on surbahar by Matyas Wolter with Sanjib Pal on pakhawaj followed by Murshida Arzu Alpanans Khayal in Raag Jog.
